Join a group of runners/walkers for a 5k jog around beautiful Zurich. The group will jog at approximately 11km/hour for about 30 minutes in length. All are welcome to join! 

Start: 6:45 am at the main entrance of the Kongresshaus – please be there on time or you will have to catch up.
Route: 4.5 km, along the shore of beautiful lake Zurich, the Limmat river and via Zurich's picturesque old town (see map below).
End: 7:15 am in Bahnhofstrasse at John Baker (hippest bakery in town) where complimentary coffee, tea, croissants, pastries and muesli will be served to all participants!

Dalith Steiger, co-founder of the award-winning SwissCognitive, World-Leading AI Network, and the CognitiveValley Foundation. She was born in Israel and grew up in Switzerland. Today, she is a global AI advisor and speaker, sharing her extensive knowledge and experience in the field of AI around the world. She is also CEO of the Swiss IT Leadership Forum, and Member of the Advisory Council of digital-liberal.ch. Dalith sits in the jury of the Digital Economy Award as well as the START Hack, she is an advisor at Kickstart Innovation, a mentor at the Founder Institute, and teaches AI & Machine Learning in a CAS module at the Applied University of Luzern. Besides her drive for cognitive technologies, she is also a loving mother of two teenage girls, a passionate mountain biker and a big fan of high-heel shoes.

This session will dive into recent developments in the global data protection landscape. In particular, updates in jurisdictions outside the EU will be discussed, with a focus on USA, Asia, and Latin America. Specifically, it will be discussed how state laws in the USA are developing and whether a federal data protection law may be expected soon, how Latin America is catching up, what China plans to introduce in terms of data localization and further topics, and whether the overall trend is harmonization or segregation.

Philip Catania is the Partner in Charge of the Melbourne office of Corrs Chambers Westgarth and head of the Technology Law practice group in Melbourne. Phil is a former President of the Victorian Society for Computers and the Law, member of the Law Council of Australia’s e-commerce committee and is Australia’s representative on the Board of the International Technology Law Association.

Annie Tsoi is Co-Head of Deacons’ IP Department and Head of China IP Practice managing a team of 130 people in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. She has more than 25 years’ experience advising on unique challenges arising from conducting cross-border business with Mainland China. Annie has advised clients on strategic issues relating to the commercial exploitation of IP aspects such as licensing, acquisition, and collaboration in technology development and improvement. Annie is currently the Secretary General of AIPPI and a member of the IP Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong. She is active in promoting and improving the IP ecosystem to facilitate and encourage innovation and creation.

Fabio Pereira, Veirano Advogados, Brazil

Fabio Pereira is a partner at the IP, IT and Privacy practices at Veirano Advogados, in Sao Paulo. He holds an LL.B in Law, a Post-graduate Degree in Civil Law, and an LL.M in Intellectual Property from Queen Mary and Westfield College, University of London. He is the co-coordinator for the Digital Rights and Privacy Commission and a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Intellectual Property Association (ABPI). He is also the Chair of the Privacy Committee at ItechLaw. Bilge Derinbay, with experience of over 20 years, leads Copyright, TMT, Commercial, and Data Protection Law practices as a partner of NSN. She also handles litigation procedures in highly regulated areas of law. She has been recognized as a copyright professional by WWL in Copyright and by Legal 500 in Media and Entertainment sections every year. Session 3B: Data Breach Litigation - How to prepare and best practices

Mulders has ten years of experience in commercial legal advisory and (international) litigation, including on the subject of data protection and the right to be forgotten. Mulders is an external PhD-fellow at Maastricht University and his PhD-research regards the concept of damages under article 82 GDPR in the context of collective claims.

Michael Werner, Eiger Law, Taiwan

Michael Werner has worked as a German attorney in Taipei since 2004, advising clients in issues regarding technology, energy, labor and employment law, tax issues, investments, company set ups, and business law. He serves as a trustee on the board of companies in Taiwan for several foreign clients. For more than a decade he has advised on international secondments in Taiwan. Amit is a Partner in the CMS disputes team and a member of the firm’s cybersecurity team. Amit provides legal advice and incident response management to victims of cyber incidents regarding potential breaches of the GDPR and/or NIS and notifications to the relevant regulators and data subjects, as well as responding to regulatory investigations and defending claims that arise. Amit also regularly advises the insurance market on coverage and monitoring issues that arise following an incident.

Agnieszka Wachowska, Traple Konarski Podrecki & Wspólnicy, Poland

Agnieszka is an attorney-at-law with more than ten years’ experience in working on IT projects. At TKP, Agnieszka is part of the TMT practice, and is head of the IT, Telecommunications, and Public Procurement law team. Her practice focus is IT law and new technologies law issues. She has advised IT sector companies, including state institutions, on IT law and public tenders for IT deliverables and services, and also on cybersecurity and copyright. Agnieszka is also responsible for advising telecommunications operators on their operations and on telecommunications law. Agnieszka has worked on more than one hundred projects involving drafting and negotiating IT contracts, such as implementation (using Waterfall and Agile models), maintenance and development, hosting, licensing, and SaaS, PaaS and IaaS contracts, or for instance cloud computing contracts. Vivien Bilquez, Zurich Insurance, Switzerland

With over 15 years of working experience defining and implementing Information Security strategy as Head of Information Security or CISO/CRO in Luxembourg, Vivien Bilquez acquired experiences in different industries such as Insurance, Banking and Healthcare. In his current role as Global Principal Cyber Risk Engineer at Zurich Insurance, Vivien is responsible for assessing the cyber risks of companies locally or globally, before proposing Cyber Insurance and/or Cyber Services. In his free time and for more than 13 years, Vivien shared his passion and has been given Cyber Security & Data Compliance lectures for Master’s Degree students at University.

Nino Tlapak joined DORDA's IT and Data Protection team in 2013 and is a partner since 2021. He focuses on data protection and IT-security law. Further areas of practice include e-commerce and outsourcing. Nino is particularly well known for his data protection activities and also functions as coordinator of DORDA's data protection unit as well as external data protection officer for selected clients. In addition, Nino regularly publishes articles in the field of data protection and holds lectures on the same topic at the Danube-University Krems (Data Protection and Privacy – certified program), the technical colleges FH Technikum Wien and FH Campus Wien as well as the IT-Law LL.M. postgraduate program of the University of Vienna.
