Made in Canada GDPR or PIPEDA Redux? An Overview of What’s New and What’s Not in the proposed new Federal Privacy Legislation

 

 

 

Canada just introduced as Bill C-11 “An Act to enact the Consumer Privacy Protection Act and the Personal Information and Data Protection Tribunal Act and to make consequential and related amendments to other Acts”, which will effectively replace PIPEDA. This presentation seeks to provide a high-level overview of the proposed Act, with a focus on what’s new and what’s not, and what’s GDPR and what’s simply PIPEDA redux.
