Copyright Policy Development for AI Training: An International Issue
This webinar addressed one of the most important and inconsistently treated issues with AI – whether and when training AI models on third-party content is a copyright infringement and how can content owners protect themselves. There’s diverse approaches to this issue in different jurisdictions, whereas other jurisdictions are still to regulate this issue. This multinational panel of experts covered this topic from the perspective of Japan, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, EU, UK, and US law and discussed ramifications of the lack of a unified approach.
Panelists Ricardo Gómez-Barreda, Larissa Martins, Chloe Taylor, James Gatto, Takafumi Ochiai and moderator Mariana Ferreira discussed this topic.
The live webinar aired on June 30, 2025 at 8:00 a.m. PDT / 5:00 p.m. CEST / 3:00 p.m. UTC on Zoom. The webinar can be rewatched on here, or on ITechLaw’s YouTube channel.
