As we move through 2026, I would like to reflect on what has already been an impactful year for our global community. I am grateful for your continued engagement, participation, and dedication, all of which have strengthened ITechLaw in meaningful ways. It is an honor to serve as President of this remarkable association.
2026 Highlights—So Far
This year has already brought inspiring momentum and connection across our global network.
Successful Global Gatherings
Our International India Conference in Bengaluru this past January brought together an energetic and diverse group of more than 260 delegates, members, and thought leaders to explore emerging issues shaping technology law.
In May, we hosted an outstanding World Technology Law Conference in Chicago. With 278 delegates, dynamic programming, and vibrant networking, the event once again demonstrated the strength and reach of our community.
Engaged Committees and Thought Leadership
Our Substantive Law Committees (SLCs) continue to foster meaningful dialogue and produce timely, high-quality content across key areas, including artificial intelligence, data privacy, and intellectual property.
We thank our newly appointed Chairs and Vice Chairs for their leadership and dedication. Through webinars, publications, and collaborative sessions, these groups remain central to our knowledge-sharing mission. Look out for upcoming webinar announcements from several SLCs—and consider joining a committee today!
A Growing Community
ITech Connect continues to provide a vital platform for members across jurisdictions to collaborate, exchange insights, and build lasting professional relationships. Our expanding global footprint reflects the strength and diversity of our membership.
Ongoing Innovation
We remain committed to advancing conversations and publications about legal technology and the evolving role of lawyers in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
I encourage you to read the latest edition of the Startup Legal Playbook, a practical, quick-reference guide to key legal issues that startups and their advisers may encounter when entering foreign jurisdictions.
New initiatives and programming are helping to keep ITechLaw at the forefront of these developments.
Looking Ahead
We are excited about what lies ahead in the coming months and into 2027:
- 2026 European Conference — Copenhagen, Denmark, October 21–23, 2026
- 2027 International India Conference — Bengaluru, India, January 28–29, 2027
- 2027 World Technology Law Conference — Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, May 12–14, 2027

- Continued opportunities to connect in person and virtually across regions
Gratitude—and a Call to Participate
Our progress would not be possible without the dedication and leadership of our Board members, officers, committee Chairs, and volunteers. Your commitment to fostering collaboration and delivering value to our members is what enables this organization to thrive.
Artificial intelligence is changing the way we live and work and has the potential to disrupt the world order. At no other time in history has a technology advanced so rapidly, transforming so much of what we know and understand to be real.
Technology lawyers have an essential role to play in society. We must help ensure that the development and deployment of technology remain aligned with human progress. As an international organization, ITechLaw has a vital responsibility to ensure that diverse voices from around the world are represented in the development and practice of technology law.
To meet this moment, we need every technology lawyer to take an active part in the conversation.
If you are a member, I invite you to renew your membership and continue contributing to this dynamic global community. If you are not already a member, I strongly encourage you to join ITechLaw.
Membership is available to individuals, as well as to law firms and corporate groups of between 2 and 40 members.
To our members around the world: thank you for your continued support, enthusiasm, and engagement. You are the heart of ITechLaw, and your contributions make this community truly special.
As we look ahead to the remainder of 2026, I am excited about the opportunities to continue learning, connecting, and growing together. I look forward to seeing many of you in Copenhagen and at future events.
With appreciation,
Nikhil Narendran
President, ITechLaw
