Latin America Privacy and Data Protection Survey 2018

ITechLaw is proud to publish the second Latin America Survey, this year focused on Data Protection, prepared by the Latin America Membership Committee. The first report on E-Commerce, published in 2017, has met such a demand and an echo from the audience that the distinct group of authors provides a comprehensive update on the state of the law and the regulations in the various countries of Latin and South America. This is such more than a text book of statutes: seasoned experts from all countries distilled years of practical experience into a comprehensive overview carrying together a document that finally includes “all you need to know” for doing business in the E-Commerce and Online World in this region. The participants have developed a set of questions reflecting their daily work advising their clients in the field. They have provided comprehensive answers completing the full picture of legal aspects that have to be taken in to consideration.

This report has in-depth insights from 14 Latin and South America countries. It is an outstanding joint effort demonstration the value and importance of cooperation in international trade which we as experts need to better explain, support and defend during these days. A special appreciation and my thanks as current ITechLaw president go to all of the authors for all of their contributions.

Christian Frank, 2018-2019 ITechLaw President
