Moderator and Speaker Biographies

MODERATOR: Phil Catania:

 Philip Catania is the Partner in Charge of the Melbourne office of Corrs Chambers Westgarth and head of the Technology Law practice group in Melbourne. Phil has dual qualifications in law and computer science and has acted in some of Australia’s major technology procurement and implementation transactions and disputes and their data privacy matters. Phil is a former President of the Victorian Society for Computers and the Law, member of the Law Council of Australia’s e-commerce committee and is Australia’s representative on the Board of the International Technology Law Association.

Gladys Chun:

Gladys Chun is responsible for legal and compliance matters in all territories where Lazada operates, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, and Russia. She provides business units and management with strategic guidance on commercial and risk management.

Ms. Chun started her career in corporate and tax practice before moving into in-house roles in retail, franchising, and technology. She has led her team at Lazada to win multiple awards, including being named the most innovative in-house team of the year in the Asian Legal Business SE Asia Law Awards 2017, and legal department of the year at the Asia Legal Awards 2017. Ms. Chun has also clinched several accolades for herself, including one of the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association’s inaugural Chief Legal Officer Awards 2017, and was named one of the top ten 30-somethings of 2017 by the Association of Corporate Counsel.

Siddharth Rao

Siddharth is the Vice President (Legal) at Sequoia Capital India. In his role, he helps manage Sequoia India’s investment and exit transaction processes across sectors and jurisdictions, and also works on creating systems for legal support for Sequoia India’s portfolio.

 

 

 

Julius Wang

Julius Wang is an investor and entrepreneur.   He is a partner in KEE AI Inc., a company that aims to commercialize technologies in distributed AI and blockchain, with an initial focus on areas surrounding payments processing and front office operations.  These B2B applications will utilize the latest generation of AI powered smartphones and cloud services.  Prior to this, Julius has over 20 years in investment management and running companies. He started his career in IBM and has been a resident of Hong Kong for the past 23 years.  Currently, he serves as an independent director for investment funds and advisor to family offices. He holds an MBA from Harvard and BA Economics from the University of New Hampshire.

 

 

Knut Fournier

Knut Fournier started his career as a judicial clerk and then as a monitoring trustee, monitoring commitments in merger cases for the European Commission and for MOFCOM. He is a lecturer at Shue Yan University, and the General Counsel of Gobee.bike, a HK-based bike sharing company. Knut published extensively on APAC competition and consumer law issues, including recently on consumer protection in the sharing economy. Knut chairs the Hong Kong Competition Association.
