Section 6 of the Cyber Crime Act, makes it a crime for any person to access without authority or in excess of authority a computer system or network with the intent of obtaining computer data, securing access to any program, commercial or industrial secrets or confidential information. The punishment shall be imprisonment for a term of not less than three years or a fine of not less than N7,000,000.00 or both.
Section 19 also makes it an offence to aid and abet any person that commits any offence as proscribed under this Act.
