At the very end of 2019, Mexican Senator Ricardo Monreal announced that he would be presenting before Mexican Congress a bill in order to protect personal information of data subjects on digital platforms, through the regulation of the “right to be forgotten”, which is a form of one of the ARCO rights (the right to the cancellation of the personal information of any data subject, held by any data controller and processor.
If approved, this bill would modify various provisions of the Federal Law for the Protection of Personal Information Held by Private Entities and its regulations.
This bill should be discussed in Mexican Congress throughout the year 2020.
