As mentioned before, Mexico has received an invitation by the European Council, and is in the process of acceding Convention 108, which surely will enhance in short the protection of personal information in this jurisdiction.
Likewise, it has to be mentioned that the amendments made to the FLPPIPPE last year, introduced a self-certification process for data controllers. The benefit of this process is translated into the imposition of a less strict sanction from INAI, in case that the data controller has any data breach.
