The Privacy Protection Act, 5741- 1981 empowers the Privacy Protection Authority, to enforce its provisions with regards to data protection, and provides the Privacy Protection Authority a variety of enforcement tools. The Databases Registrar conducts criminal investigations, administrative investigations and audits. The Privacy Protection Authority may impose administrative fines and has the power to terminate or suspend activities of databases.
Privacy Protection Authority regulates and enforces data protection across all sectors, private and public, according to the provisions of the privacy protection Act, and the Basic Law: Human Dignity and Freedom, the sets the right for privacy as a constitutional right.
Privacy Protection Authority is dedicated to ensure that every Israeli company, business, non-governmental organization and public body comply with the privacy Acts' provisions that manage personal data.
