Survey Question:
03. Is there any bill of law related to data protection in your jurisdiction? If yes, is it new pending legislation, or pending modifications to existing legislation. If the latter, please explain the scope of any modifications to current regulations.
Survey Answer:

There are no pending bills in Costa Rica. However, since the country is part of REDIP (Red Iberoamericana de Proteccion de Datos), a future amendment to adjust the local regulations to the Standards for personal data Protection for Ibero-American States, is possible. Additionally, as part of the countries’ effort to enter OECD Costa Rica is exploring the opportunity to ratify Convention 108 in 2020.
