Article 504quater of the Criminal Code makes computer fraud punishable. Computer fraud consists of introducing data in a computer system or modifying or deleting data that are stored, processed or transmitted by a computer system, with a fraudulent intent, in order to obtain, for oneself or for another person, an illegal pecuniary or patrimonial advantage. The attempt to commit computer fraud is also punishable. The person who commits computer fraud can be sentenced to imprisonment of six months to five years and/or a fine of twenty-six to a hundred thousand euros (to be multiplied by 8).
