John Beardwood is engaged in a corporate/commercial practice, with an emphasis on information technology and privacy law-related matters. He is listed among the world's pre-eminent Internet and e-commerce lawyers in Who's Who Legal -- The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers, recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada in information technology law and recommended as a leading outsourcing practitioner in the PLC Which lawyer? Mr. Beardwood works closely with clients in preparing and negotiating various technology-related transactions, including outsourcing, licensing, implementation, distribution, technology transfer, strategic alliance and e-commerce related transactions, including in the health care, financial/insurance institution and airline contexts. He often advises clients on privacy law and access to information matters, and has managed numerous privacy compliance programs.
Mr. Beardwood is a frequent speaker and writer on various IT law and privacy law-related topics, and is co-editor and contributing author of the text Outsourcing Transactions: A Practical Guide.
Mr. Beardwood is Vice-Director of the firm's Information and Technology Practice Group (Toronto), Vice-Director of the Privacy and Information Protection Practice Group (Toronto) and a member of the Health Law Practice Group.
