C. Ian Kyer practices corporate/commercial law with an emphasis on serving information technology companies. He advises buyers and sellers of technology on acquisitions, licensing, outsourcing and technology-related legal disputes.
The Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory ranks Mr. Kyer as one of The Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada. He has twice appeared in the top 25 IT lawyers in the world in Euromoney's The Best of the Best. He is listed in Chambers Global Guide to the world’s leading lawyers, in Who's Who Legal, in Canadian Who's Who, and he has received Martindale Hubbell's highest rating.
Mr. Kyer is founder and first president of the Canadian IT Law Association, a past president of the Computer Law Association, Inc., and an editorial board member of several publications. He writes and speaks extensively, and is co-author of Outsourcing Transactions: A Practical Guide and other books.
Mr. Kyer is on the steering committee of his firm's national Technology and Intellectual Property practice group, and is director of the Toronto Technology and Intellectual Property practice group. His education includes B.A. and M.A. degrees, University of Waterloo; and Ph.D. in History and LL.B. degrees, University of Toronto.
