Michael Erdle is managing partner of Deeth Williams Wall LLP, a leading Toronto technology and intellectual property law firm. He has practiced primarily in the areas of information technology and intellectual property law for more than 20 years. He is a qualified mediator and arbitrator and is a member of the ADR Institute of Ontario and the ADR Institute of Canada.
Michael’s areas of expertise include Internet and e-commerce; patent, trademark and copyright protection of information technology; technology development and licensing; technology transfers; joint ventures; strategic alliances; private-public sector partnerships; financing of technology and technology ventures; system implementation, outsourcing; electronic publishing and the mediation and arbitration of technology disputes.
Michael is currently a member of the Board of the ADR Institute of Ontario and co-chair of the ADRIO Technology and Intellectual Property Section. He is a Past-President of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) and is a member of the IPIC ADR Committee. Michael is a member of the board of the Canadian IT Law Association. He is also a member of the Toronto Computer Lawyers Group (past chair), the International Technology Law Association and the Information Technology Association of Canada. He is a founding member of the Information Technology and E-Commerce Section of the Ontario Bar Association and a former member of the section executive.
Michael has written and spoken on many current issues in information technology and intellectual property law, including dispute resolution, the development and distribution of Internet and multimedia products and services, electronic commerce, outsourcing, domain names, and software licensing. He has lectured on intellectual property law at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University in Toronto and McGill University in Montreal.
Michael was called to the Ontario bar in 1988. He is a registered trade-mark agent.
