Kees Stuurman is head of the firm's Information Technology group. He specializes in providing legal advice on IT transactions, from advice in the preparation and contract phase up to and including assistance in dealing with IT disputes. He has extensive experience in the areas of outsourcing, IT and telecommunications contracting and European IT tendering procedures.
As a specialist in the field of ICT-related legislation and regulations, Mr. Stuurman has advised clients with regard to e-commerce (including electronic contracting, Website compliance and electronic signatures), privacy, evidence and data preservation, open source, IT governance and IT security. He is also active in the area of self-regulation (i.e., standardization, certification and codes of conduct).
His recent experience includes providing legal counsel regarding the implementation of a system for digital signatures in a large banking and insurance company; advising in several cases of (complex) IT outsourcing, including several deals in regulated markets; and assisting the four largest Dutch municipalities in shaping their IT-cooperation and defending their position in court...
Mr. Stuurman is recommended by several independent international surveys, including Chambers 2008. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars, and he participates in a number of Dutch and international professional organizations, including ITechLaw. He received a Master's degree in physics and a Master's degree and Ph.D. in law from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
