Andrea Rush represents brand owners and users in the registration, litigation and licensing of copyright, trademarks, patents and industrial designs in Canada. She has appeared as lead counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Federal Court, the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario, the Trademarks Opposition Board, and the Copyright Board of Canada.
Recognized as a leading IP specialist in Lexpert, Who’s Who Legal, the Euromoney Guide and The International Who’s Who of Trademark Lawyers, Ms. Rush has also received several prestigious awards for her contributions in the field. She currently chairs the Law Society of Upper Canada’s "Annual IP Year in Review." She sits on the Advisory Board of the Program in Law, Science & Technology at Stanford University; the International Board of Governors of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology/Canadian Technion Society; the Federated Express Editorial Board of the Intellectual Property Journal and the Board of Directors the Canadian Red Cross affiliate, Magen David Adom.
She is an active member of INTA, the Legal Affairs Committee of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC) and the Industrial Design and Copyright Technical Committees of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC).
Ms. Rush has regularly taught the McGill University/IPIC courses on copyright, trademarks, and e-commerce law as part of the Osgoode Hall Law School LL.M. program. She received her B.Mus., her L.Mus. and her B.C.L./LL.B. from McGill University, and her LL.M. from the University of Ottawa.
