Jeremy Morton is a partner in the Intellectual Property team at international law firm CMS. He has more than 20 years’ experience as IP lawyer. Mr. Morton advises on all types of intellectual property including patents, copyright, trade secrets, trademarks and designs. He often coordinates IP matters across multiple countries, and has handled numerous substantial litigation cases. He also provides freedom-to-operate and validity opinions, strategic counseling and advice on employees and IP. Most recently, he has been closely involved in his firm’s work on the new EU Unified Patent Court and Unitary Patent.
He has strong experience in the electronics, IT and telecoms sectors, where he has represented clients in diverse fields such as memory chips, PC architecture, satellite services, computer displays, DAB radio, telecoms infrastructure, DVD technology, search engines, medical technology and mobile banking.Mr. Morton is a long-time participant in the IP committee of “Intellect,” the United Kingdom’s trade association for the IT, telecoms and electronics industries, and is chair of the Substantive Law Committee of ITechLaw. He is also a member of the European Patent Lawyers’ Association (‘EPLAW’) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys ('CIPA').
