William Morriss

William Morriss is a member of his firm's intellectual property practice group. His practice focuses on legal issues surrounding computer software, with an emphasis on patents for software-implemented inventions. Mr. Morriss has represented inventors before the United States Patent and Trademark Office; and he has represented plaintiffs and defendants in patent infringement litigation. He has assisted clients in business transactions that include computer software, both in negotiating and drafting contracts and in performing due diligence review of agreements in the context of potential acquisitions, including the review for a $335 million acquisition. Mr. Morriss is also a frequent speaker, regularly presenting to both legal and non-legal audiences on topics related to information security and intellectual property.

Mr. Morriss earned a B.S. in computer science from the University of Southern California, and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. He is admitted to practice in Ohio, before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the Sixth Circuit.
