Dear ITechLaw Members,
I am deeply honored that the nominating committee and members of
the International Technology Law Association have elected me
President of ITechLaw for 2007-2008.
Throughout my presidency I wish to carry out some endeavours
that I have always dreamt of during my previous years working
for the association. My primary goal is to reach out to you, our
valued members. You are our most important asset, and my
presidential plan is a direct reflection of that belief. Below
are some highlights of what I wish to accomplish during my term
as President of ITechLaw.
Building Relationships through Strong Communication
Member Feedback: Tell Us What You Think
My first goal is to establish a direct relationship with all of
our members to obtain your feedback and thereby improve our
services to you. To this end, I ask permission to contact each
one of you individually. I want to meet you and hear what you
have to say. Specifically, I believe it is very important to
gather your opinion on our past conferences, find out what you
gained from them, and what you would like to see in the future.
Additionally, I would like your input on our upcoming worldwide
conferences, including:
ITechLaw Annual European Conference, London, November, 2007
Santiago de Chile, December, 2007
Mumbai, February, 2008
ITechLaw World Conference and Annual Meeting, Las Vegas, April,
2008
Seoul Conference, June, 2008, and;
ITechLaw Annual European Conference, Barcelona, November 2008.
Member Involvement: Call for Conference Papers
A practice that has become very successful and widespread has
been ITechLaw’s Call for Papers from our membership for each of
our conferences. Continuing on with this practice, I strongly
urge our members to actively participate with the association at
this level. Our members are ideally suited for detecting and
articulating the most relevant and interesting issues in
technology law today.
Member Collaboration: eNews and eBulletin
As part of my communications plan, I urge members to get
involved with two of ITechLaw’s most important publications:
eNews:
An electronic newsletter distributed to members in the middle of
each month.
eBulletin:
An interactive online law journal, published quarterly,
featuring scholarly articles and other substantive law updates.
For both publications, it is essential to have your news,
opinions, legal comments, editorials and the vast, rich
experience gathered by each one of us in our daily work. Your
valuable submissions will be reviewed, and, where accepted,
published in an attractive and professional format.
Closing Message to Our Members
My overall desire is to establish a continuing personal exchange
with you. In my future letters I will give you an update in this
respect.
Finally, I would like to convey my warmest
greetings to all of you. I look forward to meeting you.
Regards,
Enrique J. Batalla
ITechLaw President
