Bio:
Currently an attorney in the Silicon Valley office of Fish & Richardson P.C., Dr. Bone is building a practice in intellectual property counseling based on a diverse platform of technologies that includes: chemistry; materials science; biotechnology; software; bioinformatics; nanotechnology; mathematical modeling; pharmaceuticals; and medical devices. Dr. Bone's immediate focus is: patent portfolio strategy and management; and patent invalidity, non-infringement, and freedom to operate opinions; and patent preparation and prosecution in complex technologies.

Dr. Bone received a B.A. in Natural Sciences, and a Ph.D. in theoretical chemistry, both from the University of Cambridge, U.K. He was awarded an SERC/NATO post-doctoral fellowship and subsequently spent several years in industry as a scientist, researching applications of computational chemistry to drug discovery. He joined the law firm of Pennie & Edmonds and immersed himself in patent law while attending Santa Clara University School of Law, where he earned his J.D.

He is admitted to the State Bar of California and the District of Columbia Bar, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Publications
Dr. Bone is an author of some 22 scientific publications, and has given presentations on recent developments in patent law, and patent issues that pertain to nanotechnology and protein crystallography.

Editorial board member of the Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modeling since 1999. Articles Editor on the Board of Santa Clara University Law Review, 2002 - 2003. Member: American Chemical Society, American Bar Association, and American Intellectual Property Law Association.
