Bio:
Francoise Gilbert is the Managing Director of the IT Law Group, a law firm providing legal services to the information technology and electronic commerce marketplace.

Ms. Gilbert assists national and global businesses with their data privacy and security compliance requirements. She brings in-depth expertise in the many issues facing businesses in the areas of privacy, information security, commercial transactions, outsourcing/off shoring, cyber crime, and IT business risk management. She has assisted organizations in incorporating privacy and security in their operations; counseled on compliance; structured strategies for global expansion; and designed and implemented privacy and security policies and procedures, anti-spam compliance programs, and training programs. Ms. Gilbert works on the corporate and commercial aspects of data protection, weaving privacy and security requirements into M&A, outsourcing, and other commercial or corporate contracts.

Trained in the civil law and the common law systems, Ms. Gilbert is admitted to practice in the US and in France. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in mathematics, informatics, and education from the Universities of Paris and Montpellier (France), and law degrees from the University of Paris School of Law (1980), and Loyola University of Chicago School of Law (1983).

Ms Gilbert is involved in a number of professional organizations, and contributes a significant amount of time to professional development of the industry. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago Campus, and Co-Chair of the ABA e-Privacy Committee, the California Bar Privacy and e-Commerce committee, the IAPP/TRUSTe KnowledgNet, and PLI Privacy and Security Law Institute. She has spoken throughout the United States and abroad on privacy, security, risk management, outsourcing, e-business law, telemedicine, and information technology law and issues before industry groups, bar associations and trade associations.
