Bio:
Bruce Stratton has been a partner of Dimock Stratton LLP since 1994. Dimock Stratton LLP is a boutique I.P. firm in Toronto, Canada, which handles all types of I.P. matters and patent litigation in particular.


He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1987, and since then has practiced intellectual property law with a concentration on the areas of IP litigation in the Federal Court of Canada and software patents.


Bruce's experience places him in a small group of Canadian lawyers with a real knowledge of computer science, intellectual property law and litigation. He has represented companies such as AT&T, Nielsen Media Research, and Cisco Systems in patent litigation in the Canada's Federal Court. Bruce's articles and papers on the subject of intellectual property law have appeared in a variety of publications and periodicals. He has written and spoken on business method patents, software patents and intellectual property litigation in Canada. In addition, he is active in many professional organizations, sitting on the Computer-related Technology Committee of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. He is also a member of the Computer Law Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Association for Computing Machinery, and the Advocates' Society.


Bruce obtained his LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1985. He graduated from Queen's University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (First Class).


Bruce is a Registered Patent Agent and was awarded the Marie F. Morency Prize for standing first in the Patent Drafting Qualifying Examination. He is also a Registered Trade-mark Agent.
