Arve Føyen heads the Intellectual Property, Media and Technology Practice Group at his firm. He has wide knowledge of and experience in computer law, information technology law including data protection issues, and legal issues relating to the Internet.
Mr. Føyen's practice focuses on computer law, telecommunications, and distribution of TV and other content via satellite and broadband. He also has substantial experience with regulatory issues regarding broadband and contracts relating to satellite broadcasting, leasing of transponder capacity, EU directives, and international conventions of significance in these fields, as well as with national and international legal issues relating to the deregulation of the telecommunications industry.
Mr. Føyen was responsible for the development and use of the government standard form contract for procurement of computers from 1974 to 1979. He then served as the Deputy Director of the Norwegian Data Protection Authority from 1979 to 1982, and he reviewed the Data Registers Act in 1983 on assignment by the Ministry of Justice. In 2009, he was appointed by the Norwegian Parliament to a four-year term as Deputy Chairman of the Data Protection Appeals Board.
Mr. Føyen also acts as an arbitrator, and he has significant experience in conflict resolution and methods.
