Jan Geert Meents is a partner in the German Intellectual Property and Technology Group of DLA Piper and manages the German practice of the firm. He has over fifteen years' experience advising IT companies and national and international businesses. His practice involves a combination of corporate, IP and other legal issues specific to the technology sector. Mr. Meents represents customers and providers in sophisticated sourcing and offshoring transactions including large-scale IT projects, often with cloud computing implications. In this regard, Mr. Meents is extensively engaged in data protection and related IT compliance issues. He is co-editor of the standard compendium for specialist IT lawyers in Germany and the author of a commentary on the German Data Protection Act. Mr. Meents has published a number of articles on technology-related topics and is a frequent speaker at national and international technology law conferences.
