Prior to founding St. Lawrence Law Firm, Maxime Gagné practiced law for more than a decade in two of the most prominent Canadian law firms, namely Stikeman Elliott and Heenan Blaikie. Mr. Gagné focuses his law practice in the fields of technology, entertainment, intellectual property and privacy.
In the context of his legal practice in technology, Mr. Gagné represents and advises clients in the negotiation of complex business arrangements including outsourcing agreements, software licensing, systems integration and computer services. In entertainment law, Mr. Gagné represents producers, broadcasters and distributors from both the United States and Canada regarding all aspects of the development, production, licensing and distribution of film, television, stage, musical projects and video games.
He advises clients on a wide range of issues related to privacy, such as the drafting of privacy policies; responding to investigations conducted by regulatory authorities; conducting privacy and security reviews; drafting outsourcing and service provider agreements involving the transfer of personal information; and assisting clients in responding to privacy and security incidents. Mr. Gagné also advises clients on matters related to intellectual property registration, litigation and licensing, particularly with respect to trademarks, domain names and copyrights.
Mr. Gagné obtained his LL.L. (Highest Honours) and his LL.B. (Great Honours) from the University of Ottawa in Canada. He also received a LL.M. in Entertainment Law from the University of Westminster in London.
