Duty of Care, ITechLaw's and Yours

The International Technology Law Association (“ITechLaw”) is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all 2023 European Conference participants. Our decisions and preventive measures will be guided by the requirements and recommendations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Government of the Netherlands, the World Health Organization (WHO), and local health authorities. The responsibility for a safe and healthy event environment (Duty of Care) is shared among the event organizer, venues, and every participant. All 2023 European Conference participants are expected to adhere to and abide by the safety precautions ITechLaw is implementing to protect against the spread of COVID-19.

Preventive measures include:

  • Enhanced sanitization of meeting and exhibit spaces.
  • Masking and social distancing are encouraged but not required
  • Hand sanitizing stations throughout the convention center and offsite event locations.

Please note that these requirements are subject to change in accordance with local laws/COVID guidelines.

As part of your Duty of Care responsibilities, you should not attend the 2023 European Conference if you:

  • are experiencing, or within the 5 days prior, have experienced signs and symptoms of COVID-19.
  • believe that you may have been exposed to a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 within 5 days prior to the event.
  • have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are not yet cleared as non-contagious by the health care team responsible for your treatment.

Conference attendees should self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and are asked to contact ITechLaw at memberservices@itechlaw.org if they experience symptoms of COVID-19 within 5 days after the 2023 European Conference. Should any positive cases be reported within the 5-day timeframe, ITechLaw will communicate this information to all registered participants. Any private health or personal data received by ITechLaw will be treated as confidential.

By attending the conference, you agree to adhere to the precautions and policies above and understand that you knowingly and freely assume all risks related to illness and infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, by attending this event. You understand that refusal to adhere to these policies and abide by these precautions may result in immediate removal from the event and cancellation of the registration, without receiving a refund.

You understand that travel and gathering involves risk of sickness, including sickness from COVID-19. You (and on behalf of your guest(s)) waive and release the International Technology Law Association (“ITechLaw”) and its sponsors and exhibitors, and their employees and agents, from and against claims, liabilities and expenses arising from injury, sickness or death from contraction or spread of COVID-19 or other communicable disease due to travel to or attendance at an event sponsored by ITechLaw. You will take necessary precautions while at the event including, but not limited to, engaging in appropriate social distancing, wearing a mask in public areas as required by local country requirements, minimize face touching, frequently washing hands and avoiding risky environments such as overcrowded bars or restaurants. You agree to not attend any ITechLaw event if you feel ill or had recent exposure to a COVID-19 case.

*All ITechLaw policies are subject to change. Should changes be made, a notification will be sent to all registered attendees.
