Peter Ruby, B.Comm., LL.B. LL.M. is a partner with Goodmans LLP in Toronto, Canada. His practice centres on litigation, mediation and arbitration in the information technology industry. Peter also advises on and litigates privacy law and data protection matters.

Peter leads Goodmans' IT practice group and is recognized as a leading IT litigator in Chambers Global World's Leading Lawyers for Business. He represents all sectors of the IT industry, including hardware, software and service creators and providers, rights holders, internet service providers, telecom companies, entertainment and video game companies, owners of IT businesses, IT distributors, IT professionals and others. Peter is actively involved in advising clients on a multitude of emerging legal issues, including internet music downloading, internet jurisdiction, on-line contracting, digital copyright and trade-marks, domain name disputes, on-line defamation, business-related privacy litigation, and the regulation of internet facilities. He has successfully represented clients before the Federal and Ontario courts, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Peter acted as a law clerk to the Federal Court of Canada, taught at Osgoode Hall Law School and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto teaching Telecommunications and Internet Law.
