Fabienne Brison specialises in copyright, media and entertainment and aspects of new technologies. She has in-depth knowledge and extensive practical experience in these fields and advises and defends the interests of well-known artists, film and phonogram producers, music and book publishers, broadcasters and network providers (cable, telecom). She is leading Howrey's wide media and entertainment team.
Ms. Brison is recommended in the Legal500 2008 for media and entertainment and her Brussels team is considered “extremely responsive and client friendly – always available, no matter how busy on other matters”.
Ms. Brison is also Professor and teaches courses on intellectual property and the legal aspects of mass media and of information technology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), as well as a course on neighbouring rights (rights related to copyright) in the Master's degree (LLM) in intellectual property at the KUBrussel. She is a guest professor on copyright for the professional training course for Benelux models and trade mark representatives (BBMM), as well as for the Training Institute of the federal authority of Belgium.
Ms. Brison recently launched BeTech, a new network platform for ICT professionals in Belgium. She is also a CEPINA approved arbitrator for domain-name disputes. She is the author of many articles and books on copyright and is a regular speaker at national and international events.
Ms. Brison is a member of the Brussels Bar and received her law degree in 1987 at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She also holds degrees from the University of Paris II (DEA in Propriété littéraire, artistique et industrielle, 1988) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (doctorate in law, 1998).
