Eugene Weitz is presently advising corporate law departments on all aspects of Law Department Operations & Knowledge Management. Previously, Mr. Weitz was a member of the law department of Alcatel-Lucent and has supported many internal clients relating to advanced technology law, including Alcatel-Lucent’s global corporate IT organization, information and record management, competitive intelligence and data privacy global programs. He also co-led Alcatel-Lucent’s global e-discovery governance team.
Prior to Lucent's merger, as part of Mr. Weitz’s specialty in outsourcing, systems integration and other complex IT transactions, Eugene provided legal services to their managed services and professional services groups. Before his tenure at Alcatel-Lucent, Mr. Weitz was Regional General Counsel at Atos Origin, where he was responsible for all legal matters in North America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Earlier in his career he provided in-house legal services at Royal Philips Electronics.
As an active member of ITechLaw, Mr. Weitz serves as Chair of the In-House Lawyer/Legal Counsel Committee. He is also active in the ACC, holding a position on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Corporate Counsel Association. Mr. Weitz is a regular speaker on topics of interest in technology law and Corporate Law Department management.
Mr. Weitz received a B.A. degree from Lafayette College and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law (Delaware Law School). He is a member of the New York and Connecticut Bar and holds a Limited License to practice law in-house in New Jersey.
