Please join ITechLaw and featured speaker Ameen Haddad, Managing Counsel, Oracle America, Inc. for a discussion on Software as a Service (SaaS) offerings from a commercial lawyer's perspective, as an alternative to traditional software licensing models. 

Mr. Haddad will discuss how SaaS fits into the growing world of Cloud Computing, how SaaS differs from traditional perpetual licensing models, including the pros and cons presented by such offering from the vendor and customer standpoint, and contractual considerations when negotiating SaaS agreements. 

Mr. Haddad's session will be preceded by a networking reception for attendees, beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET.

Speaker: Ameen Haddad, Managing Counsel, Oracle America, Inc.
AHaddadAmeen Haddad is a Managing Counsel for Oracle America, Inc. in the Burlington, Massachusetts office.  Mr. Haddad received a J.D. in 1998 from Boston University School of Law, where he served as an executive editor on the International Law Journal and received honors in dispute resolution.  Following law school, Mr. Haddad joined the Boston office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he practiced as a corporate associate through the end of 2002, representing both private and public companies with corporate formation and compliance, financing transactions, and mergers and acquisitions. 

Mr. Haddad joined Oracle at the beginning of 2003 where he regularly prepares and negotiates agreements for license, consulting, hosting (including, software as a service), subcontracting and partner engagements.  Mr. Haddad has authored many of Oracle's template agreements, options and policies, including with respect to traditional software licensing, software as a service and subcontracting.  Mr. Haddad is also the global legal liaison for Oracle's domestic and offshore resourcing.  Finally, Mr. Haddad oversees Oracle America's Knowledge Management program the goal of which is to capture Oracle's legal collective knowledge and experiences, and disseminate such information through guides, presentations and online databases in order to improve the quality and efficiency of Oracle legal's client services.
