Joren De Wachter
Managing Director, Integrating Technology, IP and Business Models; Brussels, Belgium
Joren De Wachter advises businesses on how to better integrate the intellectual property in their technology into their business models. He focuses on software and IT, the Internet, content and the business of new media.
His services focus on:
Companies with new technology (typically software) who need advice, experience and know-how to structure a business model that will generate profit and at the same time protect these innovations
Start-ups that need to structure their businesses from the beginning to provide the best return on their investments in the knowledge and innovation that they offer to the market
Investors who need independent, knowledgeable reviews of how technology businesses they want to invest in deal with their core capital (intellectual property)
Mr. De Wachter has 20 years of international experience advising public and private companies, at every stage of their business development, at the most senior levels. He qualified as a lawyer in both civil and common law jurisdictions, and he worked in private practice at the Brussels bar before moving to an in-house position, first as International Counsel, then as General Counsel.
Based on his observation that many businesses struggle to understand the full impact and potential of intellectual property rights arising out of their innovation investments and have problems integrating this knowledge into their business models, he decided to set up his own boutique consultancy in 2008.
