Matthias Sonntag studied law at the Universities of Trier, Lausanne and Geneva/Switzerland, Mainz and Münster.  He advises German and international clients in patent disputes as well as other litigious IP matters and technology transfer transactions, in particular in the areas of information technology and consumer electronics.

Matthias Sonntag is the co-author of various handbooks and other publications in the field of intellectual property law, such as Intellectual Property Law in Germany, the Munich Manual for Litigation Templates for Industrial Property Protection, Copyright and Press Law and Gabler’s Manual of E-Business.  He is a member of the European Patent Lawyers Association (EPLAW), the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Copyright (GRUR), the Association of Intellectual Property Experts (VPP) and the German American Lawyers Association (DAJV).
