Steven De Schrijver

Steven De Schrijver is a partner in the Van Bael & Bellis Belgian business law group and heads the Van Bael & Bellis IT and Data Protection Law Practice. His practice concentrates on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate restructuring and finance, venture capital, complex commercial agreements and new technologies (data protection, e-commerce, software licensing, Website development and hosting, technology transfer, digital signature, IT-outsourcing, etc.). He has conducted and supervised several pan-European data protection law projects and negotiated numerous software license agreements for large multinational companies.
A regular speaker at conferences, Mr. De Schrijver was also an editor of the second edition of Van Bael & Bellis's Business Law Guide to Belgium. He frequently publishes articles on company and IT law, and he is a member of the editorial board of Computerrecht, the only Dutch-language IT law magazine.
Mr. De Schrijver is actively involved in the Computer & Telecommunications Law Commission of the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA), the IPIIT Commission of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) and ITechLaw, and he is the Belgian member of EuroITCounsel, a quality circle of independent IT lawyers.
He has a law degree (magna cum laude) from the University of Antwerp, an LL.M from the University of Virginia, a diploma in business law (magna cum laude) from the University of Antwerp, a diploma in corporate law (cum laude) from EHSAL and a postgraduate diploma in EC Competition law from King's College London.
