The future of tech law is here.

Graham Smith
Partner, Bird & Bird; London

Graham Smith advises online actors on a wide range of matters, including UGC liability, lawful access and cross-border issues.  He has handled a variety of disputes in the IT sector, ranging from IT project litigation to software copyright disputes.  He advised the State of Guernsey on the preparation of its electronic transactions legislation.

Mr. Smith is editor and main author of the book Internet Law and Regulation (Sweet & Maxwell, fourth edition, September 2007).  Reviewers have said: “without doubt, the leading English textbook on this area of law,” “reads and feels like the Bible on Internet law,” “the definitive English law textbook on e-commerce” and “a carefully sculpted work of art.”

The 2007 and 2008 Chambers UK Directories describe him as a “big name” in IT law, an “original thinker” and “first-rate litigator” who has “written superb books and articles on Internet regulations and the like,” “particularly sharp on the highly technical aspects of IT -- he really knows about software and systems development” and “understands the technology and applies his insights impressively.”
