Ernst-Jan Louwers is one of the founding partners of the niche firm Louwers IP|Technology Advocaten, established in 2006 in technology and design region Brainport Eindhoven. He was admitted to the Dutch bar in 1986. Until 2006 - per 1993 as a partner - he worked in one of the largest Dutch full service firms. In 1988-1989 he worked as an exchange lawyer at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.
Mr. Louwers is a co-editor and co-author of the comprehensive two volume loose-leaf treatise International Computer Law (Matthew Bender, NY) and has authored several other publications on IT and IP law. He also regularly lectures on IP, IT and internet related topics. Mr. Louwers is a member of several professional associations in the area of IT and IP law such as the Dutch specialist attorney organization VIRA, ITechLaw, INTA and Marques (active member to the Cyberspace Team).
In November 2012, he was appointed to the Complaints and Appeals Board for .nl domain names (C&AB). He is listed on the list of neutrals at the WIPO arbitration and mediation center. Mr. Louwers is one of the initiators and board members to the Brainport Centre for Technology & Law.
