ITechLaw delivers a successful European Conference in Stockholm, Sweden
97% of attendees would recommend the conference to a colleague

On October 18-20, 2017, ITechLaw hosted 352 attendees from 39 countries at the 2017 European Conference in Stockholm. The focus of the conference was on data protection and privacy regulation. It was an exceptional event and lauded for both the content and the exceptional networking opportunities it provided. One attendee shared that the conference is the “best overview of current and future challenges to IT-law with thought-provoking cutting-edge ideas for solutions.” You can review a summary of selected conference sessions written by Joel Wennerholm, Junior Associate at Advokatfirman Vinge KB.

We express our deepest thanks to our Global Sponsors: Seyfarth Shaw, and Neiderer Kraft & Frey, and all of our conference sponsors, who contributed to the success of our conference.

Educational Sessions

In sessions, attendees learned about cutting-edge topics including new regulations, working with law enforcement, finding a balance between health record privacy and doctor/patient confidentiality, cyber arms, and cross border implications of all these topics. While blockchain wasn't covered this year, you can be sure it will be on the next year's agenda!

Gala Reception and Dinner

280 conference attendees enjoyed the formal gala dinner at the Eric Ericsonhallen Choral Center. This renovated church featured a vast vaulted celing and beautiful hand-woven tapestries on the walls. Attendees visited with each other before dinner and then lingered long after the meal was served. The gala dinner is the most elegant and spectacular event of the conference.

Grand Hotel, Stockholm

Attendees were warmly welcomed at the historic, opulent, and breathtaking Grand Hôtel. With the plenary room celing soaring 4 stories above attendees, the room was truly grand.

Networking

The core strength of an ITechLaw conference is the networking that occurs between attendees. These informal conversations lead to business partners, referrals, and deep knowledge sharing. 92% of attendees cite networking opportunities as a main reason for attending the conference. One attendee shared: “It was the best networking experience I have ever had. So much legal experience in display, so many IT legal professionals clustered in one place: perfect breeding ground for the knowledge-hungry researcher that I am.”

Closing Reception

The conference concluded with an evening at Hotel At Six where attendees enjoyed cocktails and some final networking before heading out to dinner and traveling home. The casual setting of the venue in an up-and-coming area of Stockholm provided the perfect ending to the conference.
